About the New Lenox Pumas

The Mid-Crest Pumas were started in 2019 by former Crestwood Panther and Oak Forest Shooter player Mark Ayers in 2019. Ayers was the manager of the Crestwood Panthers from 2015-2017, leading the Panthers to a 20 win campaign in 2015. After the Panthers left for the Midwest Collegiate League for good, Mark Ayers and  Assistant Manager Jason Cline looked in to starting a CSBL expansion team in 2019. The two took the 2018 season off to get organized and start a new franchise in the Bremen Township Area for the 2019 season. The Mid-Crest Pumas were born. Ayers chose the colors of columbia blue and black for the team, and Jeremy Cline joined the Pumas as their first manager. The Pumas played their first game on May 26th, 2019 at Beecher High School vs. the Beecher Muskies and suffered a 7-4 defeat. The Pumas got their first win ever June 9th, 2019 in Oak Lawn vs. the Chicago Clout, a 4-3 victory. The Pumas played their first home game ever vs. the Joliet Dirtbags in Midlothian losing, 6-5. The Pumas went 13-24 in their first season and shocked Joliet in the first round of the NABF Regional in Kankakee on August 1st, 2019 winning 4-3.

 

In 2020 the Pumas won the Skyscraper Tournament going 4-0 and defeating the Chicago Clout 7-2.

Paxton Kennedy had a tremendous season batting .377 with 2 HR and 41 RBI
